Pure Water is Fundamental to All Life on Earth

Water Coolers are the way forward when it comes to ensuring you are always well hydrated. The fact is that most of are mildly or acutely dehydrated, and moreover, we are so used to the feeling of dehydration, that we don’t even recognise the signs that tell us we need more water.

Of course we all experience thirst, but the actual sensation of being thirsty is the body’s distress signal. It is not an indication that you need more water in your system, it is a desperate cry for help. The vast majority of the population is dehydrated at any one time. You may not notice this because you can keep thirst at bay easily enough with fizzy drinks, coffees (the milky ones) and other unhealthy beverages. Many of us also reach for food when we are experiencing the feeling of thirst, because we can no longer distinguish between thirst and hunger. If you are generally fatigued, are prone to headaches, get irritable, have digestive problems or dry skin, this could all be down to the fact that you are simply not getting enough of the right sort of fluids in your daily diet.

Much of the confusion lies in the fact that no one really knows how much water they should be consuming. We are told all manner of facts and figures, from - you must drink 2 litres a day- to -anything between six and eight glasses is fine. But which is it? The problem is that we are all different and therefore there is not one hard and fast rule. We each have different exercise regimes, eat different quantities of watery foods, have different metabolic rates etc, so it is simply impractical and impossible to have a single figure which determines what the whole of the population should be drinking at any one point. The main thing is to listen to what your own body is telling you and drink moderate amounts of water at regular intervals. Never wait until you are thirsty before you take a drink, whether you are at home or making periodic trips to the water cooler at work.
